Marcus Offers Messages of LOVE & HARMONY for Summer/Fall 2008

July 2008 - With the new LOVE & HARMONY collection by Faye Burgos, Marcus strengthens its "pink ribbon" statement, conveying love, courage, faith and survival.  The line features exciting innovations in both cotton and cotton flannel, at the same time renewing Marcus Fabrics' continuing commitment in the fight against breast cancer.

The need for pink ribbon themed fabrics and projects remains strong, and those featuring fresh new looks will be especially welcome.  LOVE & HARMONY arrives in quilt shops worldwide just as October events begin and the cause is prominent in the minds of many, and its impact will endure for cause-related quilting and crafting all year long.  Faye designs her timeless, signature looks and coordinates, bringing in new concepts to work with them.  As a follow-up to Love & Hope, then Love & Inspiration, her new line echoes the stronger, more determined spirit of those involved in the battle.   Again, sales from Love & Harmony will help to support the ongoing efforts of various cancer research organizations.

Both the cotton and flannel versions include a Strip-It design, featuring 2½" wide print  sections across the width of the fabric.  Like the original Strip-Its introduced this spring, the Love & Harmony Strip-It provides lots of creative opportunities for those involved in charitable sewing & quilting events, regardless of skill level making easy work of strip quilts, bargello styles, cheater patchwork and much more.

Another innovation is the adaptation of an adorable cat motif by Darcy Ashton, bringing an added measure of comfort to the collection.  Using line art from Ashton's popular appliqué pattern book, Claire's Cats, Volume 2, Faye added color and pattern to create a feline design, mixing it beautifully with the classic polka dot, diagonal stripe and pink  "ribbons of life and faith" that round out the cotton group.

The cozy flannels feature inspirational text prints with strong, meaningful sentiments such as "Courage," "Hugs," and "Survivor" along with the lighthearted symbolism of pink butterflies (renewal and hope) and ladybugs (good luck) plus cascading ribbon, heart and plaid designs. Soft to the touch, the flannel is perfect for quilts, robes, bed jackets, underarm pillows and other comfort essentials.

View the collections online (along with free project instructions) at and look for them in independent quilt shops worldwide in September.
